It is like business expansion, except the fact that the affiliates are loosely connected to the primary service provider. Normally the services are very temporary and provided for a short period of time.

The growth of affiliates means the growth of business. A good number of affiliate would bring a good number of users or customers to the one providing primary product or service. The service provider would be required to pay the affiliates but at the same time his own returns get increased to manifold. The best you can do is to pay the affiliates on the commission basis. This way you as well as your affiliate will prosper and harness the benefits. When you have a lot of them it will surely be a different story the same like Amazon.com.

However such a practice should be strictly followed by proper planning and fixed rules. Once your affiliate list will increase it can become quite tedious to monitor and manage all the activities. It is due to this reason that affiliate managers hold some space in the industry.
